About the Opportunity We are recruiting on behalf of a leading and fully accredited NATA/RCPA/TGA registered laboratory based in Sydney’s CBD, known for delivering high-quality pathology services across a broad range of specialties. This is an exciting opportunity for a skilled Hospital Scientist to join their Cancer Genetics team, contributing to cutting-edge molecular diagnostics.
The position is full time hours working Monday to Friday with flexible start and finish times and is close to public transport. The role is contract however for the right person a permanent position may be offered.
Key Responsibilities - Perform and interpret NGS-based assays for cancer diagnostics.
- Conduct variant analysis and curation in accordance with clinical guidelines.
- Assist in assay development, validation, and quality control.
- Collaborate with pathologists, clinicians, and other scientists to ensure accurate and clinically relevant reporting.
- Maintain compliance with national accreditation standards.
About You - Tertiary qualifications in Medical Laboratory Science or equivalent.
- Demonstrated experience in molecular genetics, including Next- Generation Sequencing (NGS).
- Strong understanding of cancer genomics and variant interpretation.
- Familiarity with bioinformatics tools and databases used in variant curation.
- Excellent attention to detail and commitment to quality.
- Strong communication skills and ability to work in a collaborative team environment.
