Graduate Chemist or Environmental Scientist - Environmental Monitoring

About the Organisation
Emission Assessments, a quality driven environmental service provider, is seeking two motivated scientists to join their team. This is a hands-on, field-based role offering excellent career development and professional progression opportunities for recent Bachelor of Science graduates.

About the Role
You will be involved in environmental air monitoring programs, including Industry Stack Emission Testing and Laboratory & Field Odour Surveys. Although you will be based in  Bibra Lake, the role comes with frequent travel throughout WA. Working in teams of at least two, you will conduct on-site monitoring and sampling at heights using specialised monitoring equipment. This role combines fieldwork, scientific testing and technical reporting; making it ideal for science graduates seeking practical experience beyond the laboratory.

The role operates on an 8 days on / 6 days off roster with a 10-hour workday (9.5 hours plus a 30-minute break). You will have access to company vehicles for site travel, working across the South-West and the Pilbara. Occasional interstate travel can be expected.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct stack emission testing, odour sampling & testing, and ambient air/OHS testing
  • Perform basic chemical laboratory practices including: reagent prep, sample recovery, sample management and  monitoring equipment calibrations
  • Maintain accurate field records
  • Complete post-site reporting
About You

We are looking for collaborative, reliable, and internally motivated individuals who are eager to expand their knowledge of environmental science. Ideally, you will have:
  • Prior knowledge of emissions-to-air monitoring is highly regarded
  • Degree in Environmental Science, Chemistry, or a related discipline. Certificate IV or Diploma level qualifications may be considered.
  • Strong interest in field-based scientific work
  • High attention to detail
  • Ability to work autonomously within a small team
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to liaise with clients and develop professional relationships
  • Good physical fitness
  • Comfortable working at heights; ability to work at up to 60 metres above ground
  • Valid Western Australia driver's license, or the ability to obtain one shortly after onboarding
  • Willingness and flexibility to travel
