About the Opportunity The Account Manager (Queensland) is a strategic selling role, reporting to the Regional Sales Manager, designed to develop and grow your territory sales. The role will see you retain and develop current customer relationships throughout Queensland, across the progressive academic, research, and healthcare sectors.
The role will need to ensure that existing business is retained, that growth is achieved across the University, Research, Biotechnology, and Hospital markets, and that new business is successfully won.
Key Responsibilities - Sales Growth & Revenue Delivery
- Achieve or exceed territory sales targets and KPIs.
- Drive growth in key product categories: laboratory plasticware (Cell Culture, PCR, HTS Screening etc)
- Expand product penetration within existing accounts.
Account Management & Development - Manage and grow a defined portfolio of customers (e.g. research institutes, universities, pathology labs).
- Conduct regular customer meetings to assess satisfaction, gather feedback, and identify new needs.
- Develop account plans to drive long-term value and retention.
New Business Development - Identify and convert new opportunities within target markets.
- Prospect new customers and build a sustainable pipeline.
- Represent the company at relevant conferences, site visits, and product demos.
Customer Support & Relationship Building - Act as the primary point of contact for scientific, commercial, and logistical queries.
- Partner with technical and customer service teams to resolve issues quickly.
- Build strong, trusted relationships with key decision-makers and influencers.
Forecasting & Territory Planning - Maintain accurate sales forecasts and pipelines in CRM systems.
- Analyse territory performance and refine strategies accordingly.
- Report on market dynamics and competitor activity
Cross-functional Collaboration - Liaise with marketing to execute campaigns and promotions tailored to the territory.
- Work with supply chain and operations to ensure timely delivery and customer satisfaction.
- Share insights with product management to inform portfolio development.
Compliance & Reporting - Ensure all sales activities comply with internal policies and industry regulations.
- Maintain up-to-date records of interactions, opportunities, and account status.
- Provide timely reports on activity, wins/losses, and market trends.
Essential Requirements Degree qualified - preferably with a Bachelor of Science or equivalent degree
Healthcare qualifications will be highly regarded.
Experience within the Life Sciences market, preferably in a related product selling environment.
Building multi-tiered relationships within the University, Research, Pathology market.
Scientific and Technical Knowledge
Strong understanding of life science products; laboratory plasticware, blood and swab collection products.
Ability to comprehend and communicate scientific applications and protocols.
Familiarity with customer workflows in research labs, pathology labs, universities, and hospitals
Customer-Centric Approach
Excellent listening and consultative selling skills.
Ability to map out customer needs and align solutions accordingly.
Strong relationship-building skills with researchers, lab managers, and procurement teams.
Comfortable with pricing negotiations and understanding margins.
