About The Role
Applications are invited for the position of Chemical Pathologist as a 1.0 full-time equivalent. The role will be based at DHM’s main laboratory at Macquarie Park.
 
The DHM chemical pathology department performs a wide, comprehensive range of testing such as Biochemistry, Endocrinology, and Immunology.
 
The role will see you being responsible for:
 
Core and Branch Laboratory Supervision (Mainly Core)
  • Provide assessment and advice to laboratory staff and any other medical staff in relation to chemical pathology investigations and interpretation of results.
  • Identify and report abnormal results, utilising the support of your team (three further Chemical Pathologists will form part of your team)
  • Support the Chemical Pathology laboratory by offering support, guidance, and effective communication strategies.
  • Lead the laboratory effectively, ensuring a collaborative, inclusive and professional workplace.
  • Practising and promoting quality practices and standards.
Educating and Teaching
  • DHM have a partnership with Notre Dame University’s Sydney School of Medicine, this partnership promotes the training of medical students in pathology. There will be ample opportunity for teaching within your role.
  • Identify teaching and training opportunities whilst supervising the Chemical Pathology Laboratory.
General
  • Provide a diagnostic service, covering all aspects of Chemical Pathology
  • Provide an overall contribution to successful operation of the DHM organisation.

About You
To be considered for the role, applicants must.
  • Be registered in Australia as a medical practitioner, have an FRCPA or recognised equivalent specialist qualification and be registered with AHPRA as a specialist chemical pathologist.
  • Be an experienced and established Chemical Pathologist
  • Be able to confidently report and provide consultative support with respect to a broad range of biochemistry and endocrinology tests.
  • Hold a current driving licence.
  • Be able to attend the main laboratory at Macquarie Park on a full-time basis (potential opportunity to reduce from 1.0FTE)
